Pregnancy is a time of profound physical change — shifting center of gravity, loosening ligaments, increased blood volume, and added weight all contribute to discomfort. Prenatal massage is specifically designed to address these changes safely, providing relief that many expectant mothers describe as essential.
Safe Positioning for Every Trimester
Our therapists use specialized positioning and bolstering to ensure comfort and safety throughout pregnancy. In the first trimester, standard positioning is generally fine. From the second trimester, side-lying positioning with supportive pillows prevents pressure on the vena cava and accommodates the growing belly.
Conditions Prenatal Massage Addresses
Lower back and sciatic pain are the most common complaints, caused by postural shifts and the baby's position. Prenatal massage also reduces edema (swelling) in hands and feet, relieves leg cramps, eases tension headaches, and promotes the deep sleep that becomes elusive in later pregnancy.
Techniques We Use
Gentle Swedish strokes promote circulation and relaxation. Specific pressure point work on the hands, feet, and lower back relieves common pregnancy discomforts. We avoid deep pressure on certain areas and use pregnancy-safe oils. Every session is customized to your trimester and symptoms.
The Emotional Benefit
Beyond physical relief, prenatal massage provides a quiet space to connect with your changing body. Reduced stress hormones benefit both mother and baby. Many of our clients make prenatal massage a monthly ritual throughout their pregnancy.
Prenatal massage is available in 60-minute ($125) and 90-minute ($150) sessions at our Anna, TX med spa. Always consult your provider before booking.
